Bodyguards are there to provide personal protection to individuals that may otherwise come to harm without them. They are generally a far cry from the popular image of uneducated large individuals pushing through crowds of people. Most in the industry of personal protection are average looking men and women who are intelligent and able to think outside the box. Situational awareness is a key aspect to providing adequate protection to a client, as is the ability to forward think and plan ahead. The reason these attributes are so important is for the simple fact that it is better to avoid situations where your client may be harmed than have to fight your way out. In fact it is more essential when looking to hire a bodyguard to consider their intelligence and mindset than it is to look for their fighting ability, as it is widely agreed that if a bodyguard has to fight, then he has already failed in part of his plan. Obviously in some scenario’s this is unavoidable and something that a bodyguard cannot plane for. It is also worth noting that someone with a good solid background in martial arts or self defence should not be completely overlooked bodyguard company
So what can a bodyguard provide for you? Generally a bodyguard will escort you to and from any location that you may wish to visit, as well as around various locations but can be utilised in many ways. Some clients like to let their bodyguards plan their entire itinerary, which from a security point of view is ideal. The reason for this is that a bodyguard will look at things like hotels, routes taken and venues, among other things, from a security point of view. A bodyguard will look at all locations due to be visited and plan effective evacuation routes as well as looking at where the nearest hospitals and police stations are. A good bodyguard will be able to completely plan your day if that is what you require. Some clients don’t like this and like to keep as much normality as possible, they like to keep in control of as much of their lives as possible and as such the bodyguard will have to adapt around what the client wants. Bodyguards can be used as part of a team or as an individual, although a lone working bodyguard is rarely an ideal choice. The reason that a lone bodyguard is rarely advised for the simple fact that if an attack does occur, then the bodyguard will have to not only deal with the threat, but also deal with you and keep you safe. By having a team of two or more it is much easier to keep a client safe in the event of an attack as one bodyguard can deal with the threat, while the other can extract the client.
